    No worries,

yup, as long as you didn't want to run a 2:1 bar. I'll know more when the final bar arrives in next week.

    They are here!

A Delay in the chicken loop supply, but UPS brought the UK Nobile demo kites this morning.

They will leave here today and will be in stores for the weekend - please see earlier post for listings. Shame it's the coldest weekend for months!

looking forward to the next warm westerly though.... :)

    First reports are in..

a few comments about some of the pro issues (there are a few minor difference between these and the ones that will go on sale) but it's good news.

I have a very impressed 666 rider, and a very impressed 5 line rider (poole harbour today). Not bad seing as the kites left here yesterday and it's currently snowing outside my window!

i'm the impressed 666 rider...very nice bit of kit indeed, i usually fly vapours, 10m being the favourite but the 666 10m makes the vapour seem pedestrian, as soon as you move the bar the kite reacts, guys out today who are lighter than me..me being 14st, were on a 12m ocean rodeo and a 14 crossbow i was on the 10m 666 and comfortably rode when and where i wanted..( 10 years doing this lark helps)..only a quick fly as it was bloody freezing..

a couple of guys had a go who are beginner/intermediates and said they felt at home straight away, with responsive turning and easy and quick to get off the water once ditched.

when you jump on the kite it's elevator mode straight up and floaty down time, one of the guys , so he says ,one of his biggest jumps today, might have been because of not used to kite etc but it looked very stable, when you did powered loops the kite doesn't flutter it's as if the thing was on steel rods not kite lines.rides very well unhooked with no deformaty in the kite.

the kites we had, had to be trimmed slightly ie:we shortened the back lines, but this was done from the bar end and once dialed in were fine..

did fly the 555 but because of the cold and frozen hands wasn't a decent test,,again a 10m and the softer power delievery will appeal IMHO to bow/sle flyers who want maybe a two kite quiver and who want to grin all day.

nice comfy bar with a swivel that works under load, the bags simple and straight forward as well..

well i'm having a 10m and 14m 666 for myself..can't wait to try it in 25knts winds and a bit warmer weather

oh yea wind was on off 13... to 20 knts.

and No mike you can't have them back

    lol :)

no fear, the first production batch should be here soon.

    Good to hear.

Similar experience to the proto I tried in september. The jumping ability was particularly good, although the conditions i was riding were a little brutal, so i didn't get a long time to settle in to it. I can say that I wasn't able to give it welly from the off... long time since i had a kite that I had to restrain my enthusiasm due to height concerns! I was also very impressed by the kites forward drive, even with a horrifically oversheeted set, the kite refused to stall, and stability was huge.

The Vapor is a different kite for sure, pinpoint precise and very confidence inspiring. The 666 is definately a comletely different feel. It may be safe to say that the Vapor is half 666 and 555 if that makes sense, not the kind of kite that intimedates intermediates, yet time will tell if the 666 kite will find favour with the everyday rider, from what I hear the 555 is the real mainstream kite.

Either way it's good news about Mr Shinn's kite program. He's been working on it for a long time, put a lot of time and resource into it, and if his magic formula has jumped from kiteboard to kites it looks like some extra fun is in order this season.

    Hi Mike,
It's obvious to me how the 5-line bar works, but the 4-line has me puzzled.
The leashed front line seems to run straight down to the fulcrum. The other front line is connected above the depower, so when you operate the depower, it appears to only depower one front line ( the non-flagging one ). I am guessing that the flagged front line length is somehow changed by two pulleys attached to the depower strap?
    How is it done?
    Thanks,
    Ronnie

Hmmm... From looking at the bar, I'm pretty sure that the reride front line is held in place abover the adjuster strap, and so when adjusted both front line move together. When you activate the saftey release one of the front lines is pulled through, past the adjuster strap and down through the centre of the bar, through the chicken loop. The front line is held by a ring and plastic ball to my knowledge. I would gladly have a look for you tomorrow, unfortunately all demo kites are now with shopd around the UK, I do not have one here to check and photograph!

should have more in a 7 days or so, or if a couple of the extras come back...

when they do I will post a photo for you.

Those kites will be in soon, 7-10 days, they should have made it out before the Chinese new year, that was the plan anyway. I will get the airfreight details tomorrow.
